Lewis Capaldi’s Song “Before You Go” Hits Number 1!

Grammy-nominated Scottish musician Lewis Capaldi’s second single from his platinum-selling album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, “Before You Go,” has hit a new milestone. It is now number 1 on Mediabase Top 40 and Billboard’s Pop Songs. With just one listen to the song, it is clear why that is.

In the song’s journey to number one, it has broken some records putting him with fellow solo artists Bruno Mars, Beyonce, and Mariah Carey to get to both the Pop Songs and Radio Songs charts with their first two singles released. It took 36 weeks to get to number one on the Mediabase charts and 37 weeks on the Pop Charts.

The beautiful and moving song that showcases Capaldi’s raw, powerful vocals filled with emotions was inspired in memory of his aunt, who, when he was young, committed suicide. When you listen to the song and the lyrics, it moves you. Talking about the song, Capaldi mentions,

“Before You Go” is both the most honest and personal song I’ve ever written. It’s about loss, regrets, and the fear that we sometimes never understand what someone is going through despite our best want to be everything that person needs.”
