“The thing about stand-up is you have the chance to be better today than you was yesterday.”
Directed/written by Steve Byrne, The Opening Act follows Will Chu (Jimmy O. Yang), a man that truly has it all — besides the one missing piece, his one true passion: to become a stand-up comedian. When the opportunity presents itself to him, the opening emcee slot for his hero Billy G, the realities begin crashing in. Dealing with hecklers, groupies, and unimpressed morning radio DJ’s … it’s safe to say Will’s start is a rocky one. Will finds himself needing to make potentially the biggest decision of his life: should he continue with the established life he already has, or follow his dreams of becoming a comedian?
The Opening Act stars Jimmy O. Yang, Alex Moffat, Cedric The Entertainer, Neal Brennan, Debby Ryan, Ken Jeong, Bill Burr, Whitney Cummings, Jermaine Fowler, Russell Peters, Tom Segura, and Iliza Shlesinger.Check out the trailer below:
