Julianne Moore Wraps up Core Cast for ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ Movie

We officially have a core cast for Universal Pictures’ upcoming film adaptation of Broadway favorite Dear Evan Hansen!

The movie, which is set to be directed by Perks of Being a Wallflower writer and director Stephen Chbosky, has been steadily announcing its core cast over the last few weeks. Now, there’s news that Julianne Moore will be joining.

Dear Evan Hansen opened on Broadway in 2016 and won six Tony awards that year, including Best Musical. This highly popular modern high school story features eight core characters, all of who have now been officially cast for the upcoming movie. As of now, the core cast for the movie is as follows:

Evan Hansen is set to be played by Ben Platt, who originated the role.

Heidi Hansen (Evan’s mother) is set to be played by Oscar winner Julianne Moore.

Zoe Murphy is set to be played by Booksmart star Kaitlyn Dever.

Connor Murphy is set to be played by Colton Ryan, who originated the role of Gene Laine in the new Broadway production Girl From the North Country.

Cynthia Murphy (Connor and Zoe’s mother) is set to be played by Golden Globe winner and Enchanted star Amy Adams.

Larry Murphy (Connor and Zoe’s father) is set to be played by Law and Order: SVU star Danny Pino.

Jared Kleinman is set to be played by Nik Dodani from Netflix show Atypical.

Alana Beck is set to be played by Amandla Stenberg, star of the film The Hate You Give.


There is still no official release date, but keep your eye on this space for updates.
