Our Favorite Covers from Louden Swain’s ‘Saturday Night Special’

Share:

With 2020 stopping all live events, we find ourselves really missing Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural cons, as well as the concert Louden Swain holds on Saturday nights, the Saturday Night Special.

We’ve collected a few of our favorite covers that the band and the cast have done throughout the years, and hopefully, this will help hold you over until it’s safe to attend conventions once again!

“Wanted Dead or Alive” – Jensen Ackles, Corey Taylor & Louden Swain

In 2018, fans in Las Vegas were witness to an incredible treat; Jensen Ackles brought out Slipknot’s frontman, Corey Taylor, for a crowd-raising rendition of Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive.” You can feel the excitement through the screen, and everyone was definitely scream-singing “I’m wanted, dead or alive.”

“Brother” – Jensen Ackles, Richard Speight, Jr., Mark Sheppard & Louden Swain

The previous year in Las Vegas, fans were treated to Jensen Ackles performing “Brother” by NEEDTOBREATHE featuring Gavin DeGraw. The song had many fans use it in conjunction with the show, as the song’s lyrics showcase the love between friendship and brothers, which many easily connected to the themes of Supernatural.

“I Am The Fire” – Briana Buckmaster & Louden Swain

Also at Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural convention in Las Vegas in 2018, Briana Buckmaster sang Halestorm’s “I Am The Fire,” which was used during the “Wayward Sisters” Supernatural backdoor pilot. It’s become fans’ anthem to the Wayward Sisters/Daughters, and it was such a treat to hear Briana sing it.

“One Way or Another” – Kim Rhodes & Louden Swain

Kim’s been singing this song at quite a few conventions, but it’s on our list of favorites because it embodies Kim’s voice and attitude so well. The song, originally performed by Blondie, gets the crowd pumped and dancing along every single time.

“Proud Mary” – Lisa Berry & Louden Swain

One of our absolute favorite covers is of Lisa Berry singing “Proud Mary” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, and also made popular by Tina Turner. Lisa’s excitement and the way the energy builds get the room pumping, and her vocals are incredible.

“Hey Jude” – Louden Swain, Jason Manns, Briana Buckmaster, Richard Speight, Jr., Samantha Smith, Kim Rhodes, Lisa Berry, Emily Swallow, Jeffrey Vincent Parise

Louden Swain has covered this song a few times, and it never fails to induce full body chills. It’s such a great way to wind down SNS, and get a crowd of people to sway and sing along. Every time they do it it’s always special, and you can just feel it in the air when you witness it.

“Purple Rain” – Louden Swain, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, Kim Rhodes, Ruth Connell, Richard Speight, Jr., Matt Cohen, Mark Sheppard, Osric Chau & Chris Schmelke

The world lost an icon in 2016 with the loss of Prince, and Louden Swain and the cast of Supernatural honored Prince by singing “Purple Rain” in Phoenix in 2016.

“Mrs. Robinson” – Richard Speight, Jr. & Louden Swain

Richard Speight, Jr. and Louden Swain tackled this iconic song by Simon & Garfunkel and gave it a whole new vibe in Chicago in 2019. It fit Rich and Rob’s voices so well, and it was such a fun cover of a beloved song.

“Free Fallin'” – Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Louden Swain, Jason Manns, Misha Collins, Richard Speight, Jr., Kim Rhodes, Matt Cohen, Briana Buckmaster, Ruth Connell, Osric Chau, Gil McKinney & Chris Schmelke

In Creation’s first convention in Hawaii in 2017, fans were treated to a special performance of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin'” with a lot of the Supernatural cast – including Jared Padalecki on guitar. It was such a rare moment to have so many cast members on stage together, and truly will always be a night to remember.

There are so many amazing covers that have been done by many cast members over the years, that it’s impossible to list them all. If we missed your favorite, share it with us in the comments below or on Twitter!

You can check to see when a Supernatural convention is coming near you (hopefully) in 2021, and we can all sing, dance, and laugh together again. Check out the dates on Creation Entertainment’s website, here.
