The Legendary Comics team teased that they had a few surprises in store for their Sci-Fi/YA/Romance panel yesterday during the Comic-Con@Home Virtual Convention … and they certainly delivered.

It has officially been announced that Oscar Isaac (Star Wars, Inside Llewyn Davis) is developing a graphic novel through his Mad Gene production company for Legendary Comics, alongside film producer Jason Spire (IO, Operation Finale).

As per Legendary Comics, the synopsis of Head Wounds: Sparrow is as follows:

Leo Guidry is a bad person and an even worse cop. When he suffers a psychic head wound, his life on the edge slips into spiritual warfare. In a landscape of angels, devils, and everything in between, can a person utterly devoid of empathy find a way to overcome the forces of darkness that have infiltrated his reality? This is the world of ‘Head Wounds: Sparrow.’

The story comes from two of Isaac’s childhood friends, Bob Johnson and John Alvey. In the panel, Isaac (who grew up loving comics and always hoped to one day have the opportunity to put together a graphic novel) explained that he, Johnson, and Alvey played in bands and made movies together in high school. The origins of the story come from Johnson, inspired by a particularly vivid and strange dream that he had after he was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Head Wounds: Sparrow will be written by Brian Buccellato and illustrated by Christian Ward. As per Isaac, this story will be a “unique, thrilling, and weird” adventure.

Legendary Comics states that the graphic novel will potentially have an early 2021 release date. Pre-order information is coming soon.
