After Peter Webber’s disastrous (yet drama-filled) season, fans were left wanting for a bachelor they could stand behind. Enter Matt James, who avid fans will recognize as Tyler Cameron’s best friend/roommate/business partner.

Originally set to be cast on the cancelled season of The Bachelorette, the producers at ABC decided to flip the script and bring Matt on as the next bachelor for season 25. Matt James is the first Black man to be cast on the show in all of its 25 seasons (much to the chagrin of Mike fans). Will bachelor nation get a more wholesome season than Pilot Pete could deliver this go around? Only time will tell. I, for one, can say that I’m rooting for Matt to find love.
