Matt Cohen’s action-packed short, Mama Bear, has won “Best Short” and “Best Actor” (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) at the Santa Monica Webfest. The webfest showcases the best short form digital content from around the world.

This is the first win for Parise for the short, but definitely not the first for Matt Cohen and Mama Bear. Since the short debuted, it has racked up multiple awards for “Best Director”, “Best Actress” (for Mandy Musgrave), “Best Live Action Short” and more, and was official selections at film festivals such as London IFF, Hollyshorts, Santa Monica International Film Festival, and the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards.

Cohen hopes to turn the short into a feature-length film in the future. You can also catch Cohen directing his first episode of television, when Supernatural returns to screens in the fall. Cohen directed episode fifteen of the show’s final season.
