Shudder Acquires Exclusive U.S. Streaming Rights to ‘Color Out of Space’ and ‘The Shed’

Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller, and the supernatural announced that they have acquired exclusive U.S. streaming service rights for Richard Stanley’s Color Out of Space starring Nicolas Cage (Mandy), and Frank Stabatella’s The Shed.

Produced by Daniel Noah, Lisa Whalen, Elijah Wood, and Josh C. Waller of SpectreVision, which also produced Shudder exclusives Mandy and Daniel Isn’t Real; Color Out of Space is based on the science-fiction short story by H.P. Lovecraft and tells the tale of Nathan Gardner (Cage) after a meteorite crash lands in the front yard of his farm. Suddenly Nathan and his family find themselves in a battle with an extraterrestrial mutant organism with the ability to infect their minds and bodies. Color Out of Space first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival with an 86% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes.

Produced by A Bigger Boats Peter Block ( the Saw franchise), and Cory Neal (the Hatchet franchise), The Shed premiered at last year’s Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival; and tells the story of best friends Stan (Jay Warren) and Dommer (Cody Kostro). The two friends had been bullied their entire lives until one day when everything changes. Stan discovers a murderous vampire living in his shed, but after seeing the violence left behind, Stan knows the monster needs to be destroyed. However, Dommer has a much darker plan in mind.
Negotiations were held by Emily Gotto for Shudder and Debra Fisher for RLJE Films. Color Out of Space and The Shed will premiere on the streaming service later this year.
