Gugu Mbatha-Raw Joins the Cast of ‘Loki’
Variety has confirmed that the most recent cast member to join coming Disney+ show Loki is Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
You might know her from her role as Hannah Shoenfeld on the Apple TV series The Morning Show, and she also voiced Plumette in the 2017 live remake of Beauty and the Beast. Mbatha-Raw joins the already announced cast of Tom Hiddleston, Sofia Di Martino and Owen Wilson. Aside from Hiddleston reprising his role as the iconic trickster, nothing is known about which characters the other actors will be portraying. The 2012 version of Loki escaped from Stark Tower in Avengers: Endgame with the help of the tesseract, so there is a whole universe of possibilities as to who will meet Loki along the way.
Audiences were treated to four seconds of new material in the recent Disney+ Superbowl trailer, along with footage from coming shows The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision. In the short clip, Loki is sporting a jumpsuit from the TVA, or Time Variance Authority, which confirmed many fan theories that the new show will feature Loki travelling through time and space. If you’re wondering how all of this might fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you can read our breakdown here.
Loki is currently in production, and slated for release sometime in the first half of 2021.
