New Trailer Released for Hulu’s ‘Utopia Falls’

Utopia Falls, an original new series from Hulu, has received a new trailer. The series follows teenage candidates, hundreds of years in the future in a city called New Babyl, who are chosen to compete in a dance competition known as The Exemplar. For all the selected, it’s a chance for them to make history, but one competitor, Aliyah, views it as an opening to a brand new type of adventure. After discovering an archive full of hip-hop music, Aliyah and her friends adopt the rebellious spirit of hip-hop and fight against the government for the freedom of their society.

Utopia Falls stars Robyn Alomar (Riot Girls), Akiel Julien (American Gods), Robbie Graham-Kuntz (Full Out), Phillip Lewitski (Supernatural), Humberly Gonzalez (Orphan Black), Devyn Nekoda (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and Mickeey Nguyen (Make It Pop). Also joining the cast are Kate Drummond (Wynonna Earp), Jeff Teravainen (Dark Matter), Huse Madhavji (Saving Hope) and Dwain Murphy (The Strain), and Snoop Dogg as the voice of the Archive.

The show features music from Kendrick Lamar, The Notorious B.I.G., Alessia Cara, Daniel Caesar, Jessie Reyez, Bill Withers, and The Roots. Grammy winning music producer Boi-1da oversees music and choreographer Tanisha Scott leads performance direction. The showrunner is Joseph Mallozzi (SyFy’s Dark Matter), and it was created/directed by  R.T. Thorne (Blindspot, NBC).

All episodes of Utopia Falls release on Hulu on February 14.
