As part of the festivities surrounding the DC Comics crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” The CW has released a new trailer for their latest superhero show. Stargirl, produced by the DC Universe streaming service, will air first on DC Universe and next-day on The CW. The trailer was released on Crisis: Aftermath, the after-show for the crossover hosted by Kevin Smith. Watch the trailer below!
Stargirl tells the story of Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger), a normal high school student forced to move to rural Nebraska after her mother remarries. But her new stepfather Pat (Luke Wilson) has a secret past as a superhero sidekick to Starman (Joel McHale), who died before the events of the series. Courtney decides to take up Starman’s staff as Stargirl, with Pat acting as sidekick Stripesy once again. It has been confirmed that Bassinger will make an appearance in “Crisis on Infinite Earths” as Stargirl, but no further information about the nature of her cameo has been released.
The show is executive produced by Geoff Johns, who also created the original comic book character in memory of his sister, and Berlanti Productions. Stargirl will feature Brec Bassinger, Luke Wilson, Henry Thomas, Lou Ferrigno Jr., Amy Smart, Meg DeLancy, Nelson Lee, and Trae Romano and is expected to premiere in early 2020.
