It’s been a little over five years since the McElroys took their first dive into role-playing as a family in a podcast format when they initially released an episode titled “The Adventure Zone” on their flagship podcast My Brother, My Brother, and Me. Brothers Griffin, Travis, and Justin and father Clint have since created a separate podcast called The Adventure Zone and tackled two incredible campaigns filled with good (and bad) jokes, endless laughter, gripping storytelling, fascinating characters, and a suspicious amount of very good dice rolls.

The first campaign, Balance, followed the adventures of Taako, Magnus, and Merle throughout the course of 69 episodes. After the conclusion of Balance, the McElroys went through a series of test campaigns to decide what their next story (and who their next Dungeon Master) would be. They ended up going with Griffin’s, Amnesty, which concluded recently after a shorter run of 36 episodes.

Now, the highly anticipated trailer for season three has been revealed, along with the name of the latest campaign – Graduation!

The trailer (which was animated by the talented Mimi Chiu) opens with a trio standing at the gates of Hieronymous Wiggenstaff’s School for Heroism and Villainy, and goes on to describe a wildly extravagant educational institution. We’re then introduced to the Sidekick and Henchperson Annex, headed by Hieronymous’ younger brother, which is seemingly where the McElroy’s latest characters will find themselves in this new story.

The end of the trailer revealed a few key details. First, The Adventure Zone will be returning to Dungeons & Dragons, the original format of most of the Balance campaign, rather than continuing with Amnesty’s Monster of the Week system. And, in an exciting turn of events, Griffin will be stepping down from his role as DM and passing the torch to Travis this time around!

The first episode of Graduation will be released on October 31. While you’re waiting, follow @TheZoneCast on Twitter for more news and updates!
