Kevin Smith has assured us that Clerks III is officially open! With that reference to a favorite line from the first Clerks movie, the writer/director took to Instagram this week to announce that the third installment of the series is in the works. Smith said that he just started writing the new script, so there’s no word yet on when the film will begin production. He was able to share, though, that Clerks leads Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson will be returning as Dante and Randal. He also assured us that Jason Mewes and Smith himself will be returning as the vulgar but hilarious duo, Jay and Silent Bob.

Told through the antics of two small town store clerks, the first Clerks movie was released in 1994 to critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival. Clerks II then followed with another successful release in 2006.

Check out the announcement below!

While fans are waiting for this next Kevin Smith flick, they can check out Jay and Silent Bob Reboot in theaters starting October 15.
