“You were the sun, and I was crashing into you.”

Dive back in to the epic world of Simon Snow in the sequel to Rainbow Rowell’s hit novel Carry On — appropriately titled Wayward Son — which is officially available today!

In Carry On, Simon Snow was the Chosen One. Throughout his eighth and final year at the Watford School of Magicks, he managed to save the day, lose his girlfriend and his magic, get the guy (see also: his brooding vampire boyfriend), and ended up with a seemingly irreversible pair of wings and a tail as a footnote to his (mis)adventures.

So what lies ahead in the lives of Simon, his boyfriend Baz, and his best friend Penny in Wayward Son?

The story is supposed to be over.

Simon Snow did everything he was supposed to do. He beat the villain. He won the war. He even fell in love. Now comes the good part, right? Now comes the happily ever after… So why can’t Simon Snow get off the couch?

What he needs, according to his best friend, is a change of scenery. He just needs to see himself in a new light…

That’s how Simon and Penny and Baz end up in a vintage convertible, tearing across the American West.

They find trouble, of course. (Dragons, vampires, skunk-headed things with shotguns.) And they get lost. They get so lost, they start to wonder whether they ever knew where they were headed in the first place…

If you didn’t pre-order the book before today’s release, make sure to take a look at the wide variety of editions that are available first!

Rowell is also doing a U.S. book tour for Wayward Son, which kicks off today in Brooklyn, New York. Check out the rest of the dates and purchase your tickets here!

If that wasn’t enough exciting news, make sure to check out all of the incredible Carry On and Wayward Son merchandise that can be purchased, too! Every reader needs their own 6-foot tall cardboard standee of Basilton Grimm-Pitch himself to celebrate this momentous occasion, right?

Make sure to follow Rowell on Twitter for more Wayward Son news and discussions. And please try not to get kidnapped by Numpties!
