The season premiere “Nothing Left to Cling To” has a lot of drama to resolve, with Jackson’s disappearance in the season 15 finale being addressed in the trailer. The tagline for the new season is “Where do we go from here?” and the ramifications of Meredith’s decision to turn herself in for insurance fraud will be fully explored.
The official synopsis for the episode released by ABC reads:
Meredith, Richard, and Alex must deal with the consequences after Bailey fires them from Grey Sloan for insurance fraud. After disappearing in the fog, Jackson helps a man in a dangerous situation, as his relationship with Maggie comes to a new crossroad. Meanwhile, Tom gets new responsibilities at the hospital that throw the doctors for a loop.
Grey’s makes history this season as the longest running medical drama on television, beating the previous record holder ER (which ran for 15 seasons from 1994 to 2009). It is also the eighth longest running television series in history at 342 episodes. Season 16 stars Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens, Jr., Kevin McKidd, Jesse Williams, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, Kelly McCreary, Giacomo Gianniotti, Kim Raver, Greg Germann, Jake Borelli and Chris Carmack.
