In absolutely exciting Marvel news, The Hollywood Reporter exclusively confirmed that not only is there going to be a fourth installment in the Thor movie franchise, but also that Taika Waititi is going to write and direct the upcoming film.

While rumors had been flying around the world-wide-web for a while – for example, Valkyrie actress Tessa Thompson said in an interview in April:

“I heard that a pitch has happened for [another Thor film],” Thompson said. “I don’t know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened. I think the idea is Taika [Waititi, who directed Thor: Ragnarok] would come back.”

Thor: Ragnarok was released in 2017 and was not only popular with fans of the franchise, it also gave the characters in the Thor movies a new look, an attention to detail and humor that made it (in my opinion) one of the best movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will be exciting to see where the story takes Thor after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019) and how Taika Waititi will handle some of the changes the character(s) have gone through in the epic conclusion to the Infinity saga.

However, Marvel has yet to officially announce a fourth Thor movie, or confirm any of the rumors — so put some caution into your Ragnarok revival celebrations.

Conny joined her first fandom at the tender age of three and somehow never stopped finding new things to obsess about and love. Her current love is everything Marvel, especially two characters who tend to be frozen at one point or the other. From Drag Race to Harry Potter or musical theatre, as long as it makes her smile (or cry), it’s probably her thing.
