Fans of horror franchise Halloween will be thrilled to know that Halloween 2 — the sequel to last year‘s box office hit starring Jamie Lee Curtis — is scheduled to begin filming this fall and will likely be released next year, possibly during the holiest of spooky months, October.

While not yet confirmed, Curtis will most likely return as Laurie Strode, and Judy Greer and Andi Matichak are likely to return as Laurie’s daughter and granddaughter, respectively.

Sources also say that David Gordon Green, who wrote the script for this sequel, is expected to return as director. Considering Halloween‘s success last year — the movie brought in over $250 million worldwide and scored a 79% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes — bringing back Green would be the right move to make.

Malek Akkad will produce alongside Jason Blum and Bill Block, and Danny McBride will likely return to executive produce alongside Green, Curtis, and original Halloween director John Carpenter, among others.

Keep your eyes open for an official announcement later this summer about this project.
