Indiana Jones, Monty Python, Han Solo, and more join the Netflix family next month, while we say goodbye to vampires, sharks-in-tornadoes, and hobbits! Here are the movies and shows that are coming and going from Netflix in January.

WHAT’S LEAVING

Rent (Leaving January 1)

If you have not yet watched the hugely popular Broadway musical about a group of friends trying to survive life in New York during the days of the HIV/AIDS, crisis now is your time. The soundtrack is incredible thanks to the ensemble cast, many of whom came to the film after being part of Rent‘s original Broadway cast.

The Princess Diaries (Leaving January 1)

“SHUT UP!” With those two words, Anne Hathaway made young hearts everywhere want nothing more than for Julie Andrews to show up at their own door in The Princess Diaries. The movie tells the story of Mia Thermopolis, a seemingly ordinary sixteen-year old girl who discovers she is the heir to the throne of the country of Genovia. The movie also stars Hector Elizondo, Heather Matarazzo, and Robert Schwartzman.

Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Leaving January 19)

The epic story of Frodo Baggins and his quest to destroy the One Ring begins in this, the first movie of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Frodo is joined in his journey by his fellow hobbits (Sam, Merry, and Pippin), a wizard (Gandalf), an elf (Legolas), a dwarf (Gimli), and two humans (Aragorn and Boromir), better known as the titular “Fellowship of the Ring.” The ensemble cast includes Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, John Rhys-Davies, Viggo Mortensen, and Sean Bean.

WHAT’S COMING

Across the Universe (Arriving January 1)

The music of the Beatles is an essential plot piece to Across the Universe, a story about the romance of a poor English boy and a wealthy American girl. Over 30 Beatles songs are used to tell the story of Lucy and Jude and their tumultuous relationship, which is set against the backdrop of the 1960’s political climate. The movie stars Evan Rachel Wood and Jim Sturgess.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Arriving January 2)

The popular comedic troupe tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table on their search for the Holy Grail. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is not just any quest story, as Arthur and his knights face some very interesting and absurd obstacles in their journey, such as the Black Knight, a very rabid rabbit, and the Knights Who Say Ni. The film stars Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (Arriving January 9)

Star Wars fans get a peak at the life of Han Solo during the years before he joined Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia in the Rebellion and before he experienced that moment with his son, in Solo: A Star Wars Story. The movie stars Alden Ehrenreich as the titular character.

American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace (Arriving January 17)

Darren Criss stars in the second season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series that focuses on some of the most notorious crimes and criminals in American history. Criss garnered much critical acclaim for his portrayal of Versace’s killer Andrew Cunanan.
