‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 Finale Confirms Another ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off!

The season 2 finale of the Disney+ live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian premiered today, and it was an absolutely wild ride.

For those that stuck around after the credits rolled on “Chapter 16,” there was a huge and exciting reveal in the post-credits scene. If you haven’t watched yet, consider this your official spoiler warning.

After the bombshell of events that took place in the episode itself, we return to the desert planet of Tatooine. The camera pans over to a very familiar building … Jabba’s Palace. Inside sits the Twi’lek Bib Fortuna, who assumed control of the palace after Jabba the Hutt’s death.

Fennec Shand waltzes down the stairs, taking out all of Fortuna’s guards. She’s soon followed by Boba Fett, and Fortuna laughs nervously as he exclaims that he thought the bounty hunter was dead. Fett proceeds to shoot Fortuna, ruthlessly tossing the Twi’lek’s lifeless body to the side and taking a seat upon the throne.

The screen then flashed with the title of an upcoming spin-off, The Book of Boba Fett, which is set to premiere in December 2021.

After Boba Fett’s appearance in season 2 of The Mandalorian, fans eagerly awaited the news of a Boba Fett series during the recent slew of Star Wars movie and television show announcements. The lack of news now makes sense, as this was an epic reveal to tie off season 2 of The Mandalorian.

It remains to be seen as to whether this will be a full-fledged show, a limited series, or something else entirely. Stay tuned for more news on The Book of Boba Fett.
