Deadline has announced that David Magidoff (The Morning Show) is the next actor to join the cast of Showtime’s upcoming revival of Dexter. He joins Michael C. Hall, Clancy Brown, Alano Miller, Julia Jones, Jack Alcott, and Johnny Sequoyah.

Magidoff is set to play Teddy, the new guy in town who’s been with the Iron Lake Police Department for a mere two weeks. He’s “good-natured, quirky, hard-working, eager to please,” and is a little scared of Police Chief Angela Bishop. Though he appears inexperienced and timid at first, Teddy will prove himself to be a valuable asset to the team — in his own way, that is.

The upcoming revival will be a 10-episode limited run. It will be set in upstate New York, in the town of Iron Lake. It’s possible that this is the same town Dexter retreated to when viewers last saw him in season 8 of the show’s original run. There’s currently no solid confirmation on what the general story will entail, but based on previous character descriptions, it’s likely Iron Lake PD will play a large role in the show similar to Miami Metro. Dexter’s relationship with them remains a mystery, for now.

Deadline also mentions that filming is set to begin next month. The show is currently slated to release sometime in Fall of this year.
