Season 1 of FOX’s hit show Prodigal Son ended with the shocking twist of Ainsley Whitly, the “well adjusted Whitly,” snapping under immense stress and murdering Nicholas Endicott. If that wasn’t enough, fans surely felt a chill up their spine at Martin’s reaction: a proud smile followed by “my girl.” What better song to set a recap of Ainsley’s season 1 journey to than the well known song of the same title, but with a twist!

Debuted exclusively by TVLine, the music video features a much darker twist on “My Girl” from Final Child, a.k.a Jennifer Akerman, wife of Prodigal Son star Tom Payne. An extremely talented musician, Akerman teamed up with Dan Silver to breathe new life into the high energy pop song. Akerman’s take is a darker, more ominous one that also carries some of the signature sounds that Akerman’s fans will recognize. In short, it’s a perfect rendition for the show!

Via social media, Akerman promised that the full version will be available to listen to soon! While you wait, watch the music video below and check out Akerman’s other songs, including her latest release “Dead Romance”, available to stream everywhere!

Prodigal Son returns Tuesday, January 12 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. C on FOX.
