Schitt’s Creek is a hilarious, heartwarming, and utterly addicting comedy created by the genius minds of father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy.

Starring Eugene Levy (Johnny Rose), Catherine O’Hara (Moira Rose), Dan Levy (David Rose), and Annie Murphy (Alexis Rose), the series follows the ups and downs in the lives of the Rose family as they go from riches-to-rags. They find themselves living out of a motel in a town called Schitt’s Creek.

The show will sadly be taking its final bow this year with its sixth season — not for lack of love, but because the Rose family’s story has simply reached the ending that was planned all along.

In the meantime, for some laughter to help stave off the sadness, we’ve taken a trip down memory lane to look back at some of our favorite cold opens from seasons 1 through 5!

Season 1, Episode 2 — “The Drip”

A soaking wet bed, Moira’s dramatics, and Johnny’s fabulous nightgown. If you didn’t love this show after the first episode, you absolutely had to after this one.

Season 1, Episode 3 — “Don’t Worry, It’s His Sister”

Poor Johnny is beyond himself that nobody else in Schitt’s Creek sees anything wrong with the town sign.

Season 1, Episode 5 — “The Cabin”

In which David is scarred, and a locking door between the rooms would most definitely come in handy.

Season 1, Episode 6 — “Wine and Roses”

Phone tag is all fun and games until you’re waiting on a call from an important client.

Season 1, Episode 7 — “Turkey Shoot”

David has a thing about bugs with milky exoskeletons. Stevie clearly isn’t who you should call when you need help getting rid of one.

Season 2, Episode 4 — “Estate Sale”

Mutt surprises Alexis with a bike and she just can’t contain her excitement.

Season 3, Episode 1 — “Opening Night”

“I see, uh, David’s made you feel right at home.” As per usual, the door between the rooms is but an easily-opened revolving one with no sense of boundaries — much to David’s dismay.

Season 4, Episode 1 — “Dead Guy in Room 4”

Stevie delivers some disturbing news to Johnny and Moira, the latter of which clearly has priorities.

Season 4, Episode 5 — “RIP Moira Rose”

“It’s not even trending, which is actually kind of sad.” “That’s what you think is sad?” Meanwhile, Moira’s biggest concern is the fact that someone has sent the family their condolences in the form of (gasp) pink carnations.

Season 4, Episode 6 — “Open Mic”

The secret gender reveal envelope of Roland and Jocelyn’s baby finds its way onto Moira’s desk — whoops.

Season 4, Episode 7 — “The Barbecue”

Patrick, being Patrick, sends David an obnoxiously large cookie celebrating their four-month anniversary.

Season 4, Episode 9 — “The Olive Branch”

Alexis is finally ready to reap the fruits of her schooling labor with her degree, hot off the printer! However, the outer appearance of Elmdale College clearly wasn’t the only sketchy part of that school.

Season 5, Episode 1 — “The Crowening”

W-I-G-S. That’s it. Enough said.

Season 5, Episode 9 — “The M.V.P.”

“What time did you need me to show up to watch you play the baseball?” In which Patrick somehow convinces David to play a team sport… mostly thanks to the promise of food (we can relate).

Picking favorites is hard, and this certainly isn’t an exhaustive list of all of the outrageously fabulous cold opens throughout the course of the show. So what’s your favorite opening skit from Schitt’s Creek? Let us know in the comments!
