Supergirl Gets New Look in Extended Season Five Trailer

In a brand new extended trailer for the season five premiere of Supergirl, Lena wants to hurt Supergirl as much as she hurt her. Kara gets a new look, and the Monitor returns.

The episode — titled “Event Horizon”– directly follows the events of the season four finale, where Lena found out from Lex –her brother– that her best friend is Supergirl, and that she’s been lying to Lena the whole time.

The official synopsis reads: “Kara is surprised to find that CatCo has a new owner, who has brought in a star reporter. New couples emerge and explore their budding relationships, while J’onn J’onzz receives an unexpected visitor.” Just like the other Arrowverse shows, the first half of the season is expected to build up to the massive “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event.

One big change this season is the new costume change for Supergirl. Instead of her signature skirt and tights, Kara will now be saving National City and the world with a suit that has pants.

Another change this season will be the departure of one of its original stars, Mehcad Brooks (James Olsen). Brooks will be leaving sometime during the season, so he can focus on feature films and develop a cable series of his own. However, when one door closes, another opens. After his character was last seen traveling 1,000 years into the future during the season three finale, Jeremy Jordan (Winn Schott) –who left the show in order to pursue more Broadway roles– will be returning for three episodes after the crossover.

Season five of Supergirl premieres on the CW Sunday, October 6 at 9 p.m. ET, following the series premiere of Batwoman.
