The Billboard Music Awards don’t need to visit the “Year 3000” to celebrate the future of the music industry. Nick Jonas is set to host the annual awards event at the end of May.

Jonas is the first new host in four years, succeeding Kelly Clarkson. It is also his first time ever hosting the event. The news announcing Jonas as host comes a day after the nominees were announced for the different categories. The Weeknd has landed the most nominations, coming in with 16 in total. Other nominated artists are Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Pop Smoke, BTS, Ariana Grande, and more.

Nick is no stranger to the awards as his band, the Jonas Brothers, have been nominated for several BBMAs in the past. They also landed their first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart in 2019 for their hit song “Sucker.”

Nick is already gearing up to be the best host ever, according to his Twitter.

Voting for the event will begin on Monday, May 10. The Billboard Music Awards will be live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Sunday, May 23.
