Kristen Stewart and Viggo Mortensen will star in the David Cronenberg sci-fi thriller Crimes of the Future. Written and directed by Cronenberg, the film will also star Léa Seydoux, Scott Speedman, Welket Bungué, Don McKellar, and Lihi Kornowski.

Deadline broke the news of the film and described it as “…a deep dive into the not-so-distant future where humankind is learning to adapt to its synthetic surroundings. This evolution moves humans beyond their natural state and into a metamorphosis, altering their biological makeup.”

Crimes of the Future will be Cronenberg’s first film as director since 2014’s Maps to the Stars, and this will be his first original screenplay since 1999’s eXistenZ. This movie will also be a reunion for Cronenberg and Mortensen, who worked together on A History of Violence and Eastern Promises.

A release date for Crimes of the Future hasn’t been given yet, but filming is slated to begin in August of this year in Athens, Greece.
