Come my little friends as we all sing a happy new casting song!

Although that’s not exactly how the Oscar nominated song, “Happy Working Song” goes, we do, however, have exciting news! The long awaited sequel to the 2007 hit Disney movie, Enchanted, starring Amy Adams, Idina Menzel, James Marsden, and Patrick Dempsey is officially in the works, and with that means more announcements about who will be joining some of the returning original cast.

According to Deadline, three more wonderful actresses will join the magical, or perhaps, unmagical sequel entitled, Disenchanted. Joining Adams, Menzel, Marsden, and Dempsey will be Maya Rudolph, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Jayma Mays! Rudolph is known for her roles in movies and TV shows such as Bridesmaids, Saturday Night Live, and Grown Ups. Brown is featured in films and TV shows such as Community, Big Shot (now streaming on Disney +), and Avengers: Endgame. Lastly, Mays is known for her work in Glee, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and Heroes.

In case you’ve never seen the wonderfully magical movie, Enchanted, let us enlighten you. The movie stars Amy Adams as Giselle, a young maiden looking for love in the animated Andalasia. She is loved by animals, and uses her beautiful vocals to catch the attention of a young prince, Prince Edward (Marsden), who just happens to know the rest of the duet. They ride off into the sunset and are to be married, but Edward’s step mother has other plans. His step-mother tricks Giselle and transports her to a place of nightmares — New York. No longer animated, Giselle finds herself scared and alone, but is taken in by a nice man Robert (Dempsey), who has a fiancée named Nancy (Menzel). Edward travels through the porthole to New York to get back his true love, but so does his stepmother and her henchman. What new adventure will be waiting for this modern day fairytale?

Also returning to the film is the enormously talented Alan Menken, who composed the music for the first movie. Directing the sequel is Adam Shankman with production hopefully starting in the coming months. It’s rumored that the trio of actresses will play somewhat “evil” characters, but it hasn’t been confirmed explicitly as of yet.

We are one are ecstatic for this announcement of these gifted actresses, and can’t wait to see this film coming soon to Disney+!
