Tui T. Sutherland’s bestselling middle-grade book series, Wings of Fire, is officially being adapted into an animated Netflix series!

The upcoming show will have a 10-episode first season, with each episode running approximately 40 minutes. Dan Milano will adapt the series for TV. Milano, Christa Starr, and Justin Ridge will serve as executive producers and showrunners. Tui T. Sutherland will executive produce along with Ava DuVernay, Sam Register, and Sarah Bremner under DuVernay’s ARRAY Filmworks.

Wings of Fire follows seven dragon tribes who have been at war for generations over lost ancient treasure. But a prophecy foretells that a group of young dragons will band together to finally bring an end to the war.

Currently, Sutherland’s series is planned for 15 books, with the 14th having released in September of 2020. There’s currently no word as to whether Netflix will dedicate one season per book, or go the A Series of Unfortunate Events route and bring three or so books to life per season. Either way, we can’t wait to see what they have in store!
