The MTV Movie & TV Awards are finally back! On Sunday, May 16, the award show will celebrate and recognize some of the best recent installments across film and television. The following evening, the inaugural Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted will take place, an event specifically geared toward reality TV.

Though host and presenter details are still in the works, MTV has released the official list of this year’s nominees! Fan voting is now open here and will run until April 30.

Marvel’s hit new show The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which airs exclusively on Disney+, has garnered two spots on the nominee list!

Anthony Mackie, who portrays Sam Wilson aka the Falcon, has been nominated in the Best Hero category. Finally given the chance to step into the spotlight as his character dons the weight of the vibranium shield that Steve Rogers passed on to him in Avengers: Endgame, Mackie has done an exemplary job on the series thus far. His competition includes Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman 1984), Jack Quaid (The Boys), Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), and Teyonah Parris (WandaVision).

Meanwhile, Mackie and Sebastian Stan — our very own Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier — have also been nominated in the Best Duo category. Throughout Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, their characters eventually developed a hilarious relationship built on their tendency to bicker nonstop. Moving into The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, they’ve been given the chance to prove that not only are they funny together, but they’re also a force to be reckoned with in battle. Their competition includes Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo (Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar), Pedro Pascal and Grogu (The Mandalorian), Lily Collins and Ashley Park (Emily in Paris), and Sacha Baron Cohen and Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm).

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is a six-episode miniseries that sees the return of Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Stan’s Bucky Barnes in the wake of Avengers: Endgame. The two must team up on a global adventure that tests both their skills and their patience with one another. The series includes some familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like Daniel Brühl, Emily VanCamp, Georges St-Pierre, Florence Kasumba, and Don Cheadle, and new players including Wyatt Russell, Erin Kellyman, Adepero Oduye, Carl Lumbly, and more.

The finale of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere on Disney+ this Friday, April 23. In the meantime, make sure to follow along with our episodic recaps, reviews, theories, and more, as well as our recent interview with series composer Henry Jackman.
