The nominations for the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards are here! The awards ceremony recognizes some of the best films and television programs from the past year. This year’s ceremony will also be followed by the inaugural Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted geared towards reality TV.

Among this year’s nominees is Jurnee Smollett. She earned a nomination for role as the fiery and incredible Letitia “Leti” Lewis in HBO’s Lovecraft Country. She is nominated in the category for Most Frightened Performance.

Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Freeman as he, his childhood friend Leti, and his uncle George journey through the Jim Crow South in search of Atticus’ father Montrose. Along the way, the group uncovers family secrets, faces every type of monster, and discovers the existence of magic.

Lovecraft Country is available to watch now on HBO Max. Read some of our favorite Leti Lewis moments from the show here.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards will take place on Sunday, May 16. Fan voting is open now through April 30. Find the full list of nominees here.
