Yesterday it was announced that QCode Media’s podcast Blackout will return for a second season with Rami Malek and Aja Naomi King. A TV package for the podcast was also revealed. Today, Deadline has announced that David Bruckner (The Night House) is attached to direct the Blackout TV adaptation.

Blackout‘s creator, Scott Conroy, will adapt the podcast for television. Rami Malek will join as an executive producer. There’s currently no word on casting, including whether Malek will star in the adaptation as well.

Blackout is an apocalyptic thriller podcast. It follows Simon Itani, a radio DJ fighting to protect his family and community after the national power grid goes down and upends modern civilization.

Season 1 is available to listen now on Spotify. Season 2 is set to premiere early this summer. Malek will reprise his role as Simon, with Aja Naomi King joining in a currently unknown role.
