Late Night with Seth Meyers is getting a visit from the new Cap himself next week — Wyatt Russell! Russell, who portrays John Walker (the man currently holding the title of Captain America) in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, will be joining host Seth Meyers for a chat on Monday, April 19.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier sees the return of Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes. The series picks up in the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, in which a much older Steve Rogers made the decision to pass on his vibranium shield to Sam. Not ready to take on the mantle, the series opened up with Sam giving the shield to the Smithsonian exhibit. However, the United States government clearly had other plans … as the shield and a new Captain America outfit were soon placed into the hands of a soldier named John Walker.
As with his comic counterpart U.S. Agent, Walker has anger issues and carries himself with an air of arrogance, which is something that Russell has done a commendable job in bringing to the screen and portraying. After the shocking events at the end of episode 4, “The Whole World Is Watching,” it remains to be seen how much longer he will be wielding the shield.
Episode 5 of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will land exclusively on Disney+ this Friday, April 16. Stay tuned for our weekly recaps, reviews, and theories, and make sure to check out our interview with series composer Henry Jackman!
