The CW’s upcoming superhero series Naomi has added five new cast members to its ranks. Joining the show will be Barry Watson, who’s set to be a series regular, Mouzam Makkar, Daniel Puig, Mary-Charles Jones, and Aidan Gemme. The group joins the previously announced Kaci Walfall (playing the title role), Cranston Johnson, Alexander Wraith, and Camila Moreno.

The new character descriptions are as follows:

Watson will play Naomi’s adoptive father Greg, a veteran military officer who’s serious about his responsibilities on the military base and views Naomi as a perfect daughter. Makkar will play Jennifer, his wife. Jennifer teaches linguistics on the base and also dotes on Naomi. (I already love this family.)

Puig will portray high school jock Nathan, who was briefly in a relationship with Naomi before she ended it. While they continue to be friends, they still have chemistry with each other that leads to jealousy from Nathan.

Jones steps into the role of the fiercely loyal best friend and classmate Annabelle. She doesn’t shy away from giving the truth to Naomi and thinks she may be too obsessed with the mysterious happenings in the town.

Gemme will take on the sweet, shy, and nerdy Jacob, who’s been dating Annabelle for several years and treats her like a queen.

Based on the limited DC comic series by Brian Michael Bendis, Jamal Campbell, and David F. Walker, Naomi follows Naomi McDuffie, a teen who finds herself venturing from the small bubble of her town into the vast expanse of the multiverse after a strange event rocks the town. Naomi heads on a quest to discover the event’s origin, soon learning information that challenges our beliefs of superheroes.

Naomi is currently in development with Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship, who will write and executive produce. Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes will executive produce, with Amanda Marsalis set to direct.
