‘Nomadland’ and ‘Rocks’ Lead 2021 BAFTA Nominations

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced its nominees for this year’s best British and international films. The year after the BAFTAs were criticized for a lack of nominations in underrepresented groups, this year’s list of films are the most diverse in the organization’s history. Sixteen of the 24 acting nominations went to actors from underrepresented groups, and four of the five directing nominations went to women after 10 years of only male nominees. There are also many debut and breakout performances nominated, with 21 of the 24 acting nominees receiving their first BAFTA nominations.

The BAFTAs will air over two separate nights, with the “craft” awards announced on April 10 and the performance categories announced on April 11. Check out the full list below, and be sure to tune in for the ceremony in April!
