The CW has announced that Superman & Lois will be taking a short break after the airing of its fifth episode “The Best of Smallville” due to a COVID-19 related issue that set production back earlier in the season. The show will return on Tuesday, May 18 to finish out its first season at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.

Superman & Lois follows the Kent family — Clark (Tyler Hoechlin), Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch), Jordan (Alex Garfin), and Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) — as they move their lives to Smallville for a fresh start. The family tries to find their footing and balance between their family values and saving the world.

Superman & Lois also stars Emmanuelle Chriqui as Lana Lang, Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing, Inde Navarrette as Sarah Cushing, Wolé Parks as The Stranger/Captain Luthor, Dylan Walsh as General Sam Lane, Stacey Farber as Leslie Larr, Adam Rayner as Morgan Edge, and Sofia Hasmik as Chrissy Beppo.

The show was recently picked up for a second season after only one episode for its performance as the largest primetime response in the 8 p.m. slot on The CW in two years. Additionally, it received the largest day-one streaming audience for a new series in the history of the network.
