Emmy Award winners Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge are teaming up to reboot the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith! The original film starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as assassins who have successfully hidden their secret identities from each other while living double lives – until the day each is assigned to kill the other after a hit goes wrong. Glover and Waller-Bridge will each star in the new series and executive produce alongside co-creator Francesca Sloane (who also produces Atlanta with Glover).
The reboot is expected to premiere on Amazon in 2022, with no filming dates or other casting announced yet. This is Waller-Bridge’s first original series on Amazon after the success of Fleabag, while Glover’s Atlanta continues to be a hit for FX.
