The fifth issue of the six-part comic miniseries The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem from Dark Horse Comics is now available!

The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: National Anthem is written by Gerard Way and Shaun Simon, with art by Leonardo Romero, lettering by Nate Piekos, and coloring by Jordie Bellaire. This comic series follows the story of Mike Milligram and the Killjoys, who used to be teenage exterminators on a mission to save reality. After temporarily losing their memories, the gang gets back together years later in a final showdown against an evil pharmaceutical corporation, their monstrous hitman, and savage gang rivals.

In issue #4, the Killjoys visited the Witch and managed to save Kara. Mike and Jaime also finally learned that they’re father and son in the process. The group was later ambushed (but certainly not defeated) at a mall by a motley crew of surviving A.K.A.s, who just so happen to be those corporate jerks over at B.T. Global.

The summary for issue #5 is as follows:

“As Mike Milligram races towards New York City with the re-assembled Killjoys crew, our band of reality-saving exterminators must fight their way through a deranged corporate hitman known as the Scarecrow, and blast through a giant highway barricade or die trying.”

In addition to Romero’s cover, there are also two variant covers available for issue #5. The covers, pictured below, feature artwork by Becky Cloonan (the artist for the 2013 version of The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys) and Alvaro Tapia Hidalgo.
