The 2021 Golden Globe nominations were announced this morning, recognizing an assortment of impressive movies and television across various genres from the past year.

Disney+’s live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, received a well-earned nomination for Best Drama Television Series. The Mandalorian is up against The Crown, Lovecraft Country, Ozark, and Ratched in this category.

The Mandalorian follows the travels of a Mandalorian bounty hunter as he makes his way across the outer reaches of the galaxy in the wake of the Empire’s rule. Season 2, which was full of surprises, just finished airing in December.

The Mandalorian has garnered much praise over the course of its two seasons based on several factors, namely the way that it seamlessly fits into the Star Wars universe with its impressive sets, characters, and storytelling. The heart of the show lies in its compelling lead, Din Djarin (portrayed by Pedro Pascal), and his bounty-turned-sidekick Grogu.

The Mandalorian recently won the Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Series category at the Critics Choice Super Awards in January.

The 78th Golden Globes, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, will be held on February 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT/8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET.
