The secrets and mysteries of Manifest‘s Flight 828 are now one step closer to getting solved. Deadline has exclusively reported that A Suitable Boy‘s Mahira Kakkar and Ali Lopez-Sohaili from Law & Order: SVU are set to recur in the NBC drama’s third season.
Manifest centers around the mysterious reappearance of Montego Air Flight 828, which had been missing for 5 1/2 years. The passengers never aged, but now they’re dealing with unexplained “Callings” and trying to find out the truth of 828, no matter how dangerous it is.
Kakkar will be playing researcher Dr. Aria Gupta who is working on a top-secret study of the “inexplicable phenomena” surrounding Flight 828. Dr. Gupta’s path will cross with Ben Stone (Josh Dallas), whom she views as a “valuable source of biological information,” according to Deadline. Lopez-Sohaili, meanwhile, will play Eagan Tehrani, a Flight 828 passenger who has stayed off the grid since returning. He and Ben will receive pieces of the same calling, proving to be a major asset because of his photographic memory and will become a formidable adversary for Ben.
Kakkar can also be seen in New Amsterdam, Orange is the New Black, Law and Order, and Friends From College. Lopez-Sohaili recently starred in Power Strip at the Lincoln Center Theater and his other credits include The Blacklist: Redemption.
Manifest also stars Melissa Roxburgh, Athena Karkanis, J.R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, and Matt Long. Season 3 is set to release sometime early next year on NBC with a deal to release on Peacock the following day. The first two seasons are streaming now on Hulu.
