WATCH: Rare, Behind-The-Scenes Footage from ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’ Released!

In 1980, the beloved sequel to the epic and world-changing space opera film Star Wars (later known as Star Wars: A New Hope) arrived, making history in a galaxy far, far away.

Set three years after the events of A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back follows the scattered Rebel Alliance as the Galactic Empire hunts them down across the galaxy. While Luke Skywalker begins to study the Force under the tutelage of the wise Jedi Master Yoda, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca are pursued by Darth Vader and his elite forces.

To celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary, Lucasfilm teamed up with Good Morning America to bring the ultimate gift just in time for the holidays — a collection of rare and never-before-seen outtakes, behind-the-scenes footage, and bloopers from the making of The Empire Strikes Back. This marks the first time that many of these clips in the video are being seen publicly, which includes a handful of lighthearted moments between lead actors Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, amongst other things.
