Another trailer for the upcoming second season of A Discovery of Witches has arrived with less than a month to go until the premiere.

A Discovery of Witches is based on the All Souls trilogy novels, penned by author Deborah Harkness. This fantasy drama is full of mystery and romance, following the story of Diana Bishop (portrayed by Teresa Palmer) while her life as a historian unravels when she’s unwillingly pulled back into her family roots as a witch after stumbling upon a long-lost alchemical manuscript. Enter the mysterious geneticist Matthew Clairmont (portrayed by Matthew Goode), who is equally charming and brilliant … and just so happens to be a vampire. Sparks fly as the two decide to form an alliance, despite the age-old taboo on the fraternization of witches and vampires.

As season 1 came to a close, Diana and Matthew found themselves on the run and they used Diana’s newly discovered timewalker abilities to flee to Elizabethan London in the 1500s to seek out the missing Ashmole 782. Season 2, which is based on the novel Shadow of Night, will find the pair on the hunt for the book and in search of a teacher for Diana’s magic.

Season 2 of A Discovery of Witches will arrive on Sky One on January 8 and Sundance Now and Shudder on January 9. Season 3 is currently in production.
