The found horror footage podcast Archive 81 is getting the Netflix series treatment. The eight episodes will be inspired by the podcast, which will also keep creating content.

The story will follow Dan Turner (Athie), whose working on restoring a collection of damaged 90s videotapes. The documentary filmmaker, Melody (Shihabi), was investigating a dangerous cult, which Dan is rebuilding by restoring the tapes. The more he converts the videos and learns of Melody and her story. He grows convinced “that he can save her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago.”
The Archive 81 podcast was created by Marc Sollinger and Daniel Powell, who will be co-producers to the series. As for casting, so far, the only announced are Mamoudou Athie (Oh Jerome, No) as Dan Turner and Dina Shihabi (Altered Carbon) as Melody Pendras. Archive 81 will also see Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys) as the showrunner, executive producer, and direct four of the eight episodes. James Wan (The Conjuring franchise) will also be among the executive producers.
