Come one, come all. It’s one of our favorite times of the year here at Nerds and Beyond and to celebrate, some of our staff will be highlighting their go-to TV episodes that are guaranteed to get you in the Halloween Spirit.

Today on the countdown is this brilliant episode of Psych, co-written and directed by James Roday with some “killer” guest stars, including Kristy Swanson as Marlowe Viccellio. Buffy fans, unite!

The episode opens with Lassiter (Tim Omundson) sitting at a bar. He orders a drink and is approached by a mysterious vision in red (Kristy Swanson). The chemistry is instant but short lived as she disappears out a bathroom window. Across town, there is a murder going down with some supernatural elements, including a suspect who dons a dark cape and a victim with unusual puncture wounds on his wrist and neck.

While Lassie is uncovering the identity of his mystery woman, Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) are helping Detective O’Hara (Maggie Lawson) solve a crime that suggests vampires are to blame. From an undead night club to a blood bank, Shawn and Gus get the case they have been waiting for and head into battle ready with costumes, garlic, and silver chains.

Is the Queen of the Damned Lassie’s new love interest? Are shapeshifters really among us? Will anyone ever remember Blacula other than Shawn and Gus? Rest assured all will be answered by the end, with lots of laughs and spookiness along the way.

If you still aren’t convinced you need to put this episode of Psych on your watchlist, this Halloween season I recommend you reconsider just for Kristy Swanson. Any fan of the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer will appreciate her introduction to this series being in none other than a vampire themed episode. Lassie and Marlowe might also become one of your favorite TV couples in the process.

Join us here at Nerds and Beyond as we celebrate Halloween every day in October.
