Disney+ has announced that its hit original series, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, is getting a holiday special. High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special will be a 45-minute show reuniting the special and premiering cast on the streaming service on December 11.

According to Deadline, series regulars Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Sofia Wylie, Larry Saperstein, Julia Lester, Dara Reneé, Frankie Rodriguez, Joe Serafini, Mark St. Cyr, and Kate Reinders will come together and sing holiday staples and share their own family memories of the season, as well as New Year’s Resolutions. A sneak peek of a performance from the upcoming second season will also be included. The special’s soundtrack will become available on November 20.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is based on the popular Disney Channel original movie musical franchise High School Musical. The series takes place in our own world at the high school the trilogy was filmed at and follows students at the school as they put on their own production of High School Musical. The second season, which had started production earlier this year before the Coronavirus pandemic took over, will include reimagined musical numbers from both the TV movies and Beauty and the Beast. Season two has yet to have a release date.

Season one of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is streaming now on Disney+, with High School Musical: The Musical: The Holiday Special releasing on December 11.
