A Trailer for the Upcoming ‘The West Wing’ Reunion Has Finally Arrived!

With only a week before the premiere, HBO Max has finally launched a trailer for the upcoming The West Wing reunion special. Set to air on October 15, this trailer is the first peek we’ve been offered into what the special might actually look like as it is set to go beyond the typical Zoom table read we have seen from many shows in recent months. This reunion was put together by The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin and executive producer/director Thomas Schlamme and is set to be a theatrical stage presentation of the season 3 episode “Hartsfield’s Landing,” featuring the return of the entire original cast, except John Spencer, who played Chief of Staff Leo McGarry, as he passed away in 2005. His role will be filled by This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown.

The special is being presented in partnership with Michelle Obama’s nonprofit, nonpartisan organization When We All Vote. The special aims to help register as many people to vote as possible and boost the overall turnout for the 2020 election. In fact, First Lady Obama, along with Former President Clinton and Lin Manuel Miranda, will be presenting special messages during what traditionally would have been commercial breaks, presumably to discuss When We All Vote and to urge voter participation in the upcoming election. Beyond these special guest messages, viewers will be treated to a special performance of The West Wing score on guitar by Emmy-winning composer W.G. Snuffy Walden at the beginning of the special, while folk rock band The Avett Brothers will provide a special performance to conclude the event.

The recent announcements of these exciting guests, and this new trailer promise a The West Wing special that will not be easily forgotten. So make sure to tune in on HBO Max on October 15 for this unique event.
