The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively reported that actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter will star in a musical reimagining of Alice in Wonderland for Netflix, as well as produce it under her newly launched At Last Productions banner,

The film will be a contemporary take on the classic Lewis Carroll story, and while details are being kept under wraps, THR reports the modern-day musical will be set against the backdrop of a music festival called “Wonderland.” Ross Evans will pen the original screenplay while Carpenter, Leslie Morgenstein, and Elysa Dutton are producing for Alloy Entertainment. Alloy was also behind Netflix movie Work It, which starred Carpenter, who also served as an executive producer.

Carpenter is known for her role as Maya Hart in Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World, as well as the Netflix film Tall Girl. She will star in the Disney+ Original Movie Clouds, based on the true story of singer-songwriter/musician Zach Sobiech, which comes out on Friday, October 16.
