The end is nigh, folks. Well … for the beloved Simon Snow book series, that is.

Author Rainbow Rowell has been hard at work on the third and final novel in the Simon Snow trilogy, fittingly titled Any Way the Wind Blows, and she’s come bearing some exciting news today!

Carry On, the first book in the series, followed the antics of Simon, his enemies-to-lovers soon-to-be-boyfriend Baz, his best friend Penny, and his ex-girlfriend Agatha as they found themselves in over their heads at Watford School of Magicks, fighting to save the world of magic from the Insidious Humdrum. In Wayward Son, Simon, Baz, and Penny jetted off to America on a wild cross-country road trip which ended in them rescuing Agatha from a cult-like group of vampires on a mission to code magic into their DNA, amongst other things.

Now, the official summary for Any Way the Wind Blows has finally been revealed! Check it out below.

In ‘Carry On’, Simon Snow and his friends realized that everything they thought they understood about the world might be wrong. And in ‘Wayward Son’, they wondered whether everything they understood about themselves might be wrong.

In ‘Any Way the Wind Blows’, Simon and Baz and Penelope and Agatha have to decide how to move forward.

For Simon, that means deciding whether he still wants to be part of the World of Mages — and if he doesn’t, what does that mean for his relationship with Baz? Meanwhile Baz is bouncing between two family crises and not finding any time to talk to anyone about his newfound vampire knowledge. Penelope would love to help, but she’s smuggled a cursed American Normal into London, and now she isn’t sure what to do with him. And Agatha? Well, Agatha Wellbelove has had enough.

‘Any Way the Wind Blows’ takes the gang back to England, back to Watford, and back to their families for their longest and most emotionally wrenching adventure yet.

This book is a finale. It tells secrets and answers questions and lays ghosts to rest.

‘Carry On’ was conceived as a book about Chosen One stories; ‘Any Way the Wind Blows’ is an ending about endings. About catharsis and closure, and how we choose to move on from the traumas and triumphs that try to define us.

If this summary is anything to go by, Rowell is winding up to drown us all in emotion, tears, and laughter as the final chapter closes on this fantastic series (and Simon and Baz, WE ARE ROOTING FOR YOU, PLEASE GET IT TOGETHER, BOYS!)

To further add to the excitement and anticipation of today, Rowell also shared the release date for the book — July 6, 2021!

Any Way the Wind blows is available for pre-order now. As a bonus, all copies pre-ordered from The Bookworm will be signed by Rowell! And please … please … try not to get kidnapped by Numpties in the meantime.
