Looks like we haven’t seen the last of Ethan after all. Leo Howard who plays Ethan, the son of Sheriff Mac, first appeared in the second episode of the second season. In the episode, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) bumped into him at Mystic Falls High School while she was trying to track down the monsters that escaped the Malivore pit.
Although at this time there are no specific details on what Howard’s story for the upcoming season will be, it’s safe to say he will assist Hope or the Salvatore school in some capacity. After all, the last time the pair saw each other they were setting up for Commonwealth Day. While setting up together, Ethan notifies Hope that he has to leave to get to football practice, but asks Hope to ask him out if she wishes to spend more time with him in the future.
