After months of waiting for news on the Russo Brothers directed film Cherry, based on the novel written by Nico Walker about his own life that stars Tom Holland and Ciara Bravo, Deadline has announced that Apple TV+ has acquired rights to the film!

In the film which finished filming late last year, Holland plays Nico, a Cleveland man that gets rejected by the love of his life, so he chooses to enlist in the Army where he becomes a medic in the Iraq war, but she returns, telling him she realized that they do in fact belong together. During his time in the war, he sees so much violence and carnage that no person should have to encounter. Returning home with undiagnosed PTSD, he gets prescribed the opiate Oxycotin, but this leads to harder drugs, which forces him and his wife to rob banks to pay debts and feed their habit.

Cherry will premiere on Apple TV+ sometime in early 2021.
