Initially reported by Deadline, Nicolas Cage has been confirmed to voice the lead character in the upcoming Amazon fantasy/thriller series Highfire.

The series will follow a dragon originally named Lord Highfire, who used to rule the dragons. Now, he rules a shack in Louisiana’s Honey Island Swamp and goes by Vern. He spends his time watching TV and drinking vodka, keeping a low profile. One day, he meets a teenage human named Squib, who drags Vern into trouble.

Highfire is being adapted by Davey Holmes, from the Eoin Colfer book of the same name. Holmes, Cage, and Andrew Mittman are attached to executive produce the series. There are currently no further details on a writer, director, cast, or a planned release date.
