First Teaser Released For ‘Enola Holmes’ Starring Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, and More

No decade goes by without a new Sherlock Holmes adventure, and the 2020s seem to be no exception to the rule – or so it would appear. Coming to Netflix in September is a film not with the famous sleuth in the center of the action, but with a focus on his little sister, Enola. Based on the book series by Nancy Springer, the film will focus on the origin story of the character.

Played by Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, Enola Holmes goes to consult her brothers Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes after her mother has vanished without an explanation. According to Netflix’s plot description

[Her brothers are] both set on sending her away to a finishing school for “proper” young ladies. Refusing to follow their wishes, Enola escapes to search for her mother in London. But when her journey finds her entangled in a mystery surrounding a young runaway Lord (Louis Partridge), Enola becomes a super-sleuth in her own right, outwitting her famous brother as she unravels a conspiracy that threatens to set back the course of history.

Brown is not the only superstar appearing in the film. Playing Sherlock Holmes himself is Henry Cavill (star of this year’s Netflix hit The Witcher), his brother Mycroft is played by Sam Claflin (star of Peaky Blinders, The Hunger Games, and more), and their mother is played by none other than Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown, Harry Potter, and many more).

The teaser doesn’t reveal much of the plot itself, but it gives us a glimpse on the pace, humor, and action awaiting fans in the movie. Fans can look forward to a turn-of-the-century setting with a modern twist with an all-star cast, with more teasers and trailers to be revealed soon. The film will be released on September 23, 2020.

Conny joined her first fandom at the tender age of three and somehow never stopped finding new things to obsess about and love. Her current love is everything Marvel, especially two characters who tend to be frozen at one point or the other. From Drag Race to Harry Potter or musical theatre, as long as it makes her smile (or cry), it’s probably her thing.
